Do you know that Barcelona is consistently among the five most visited cities in Europe?

The situation did not change even after the referendum on independence in Catalonia when the number of reservations for flights and hotels in the city decreased slightly.

Well, we can easily understand why this happens: who can resist this sunny and vibrant city? Definitely, not us. And not you.

We have already guided our readers through the best secret activities and top 10 things to do in Barcelona and many other topics. But what is Spain without good bars with all kinds of cocktails and plates full of tapas?

Study our list of unobvious bars which tourists (thanks, God) have never heard of, and take into consideration that a lot of our Catalan MeetnGreeters can take you to a nightlife hot spots guiding or just provide you with a list of “must-go” places depending on your taste. Feel free to contact them!

Espit Chupitos (Passeig de Colon, 8)

“Chupito” is a Spanish word for “shot”. And yes – the place offers absolutely crazy shots menu (more than 600 types) with an average cost € 2 for chupito. Among the most ordered are chupitos “Amnesia”, “Kalashnikov” and “Monica Lewinsky”.

From 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. the bar is full, but locals say the waiting time is usually not so long.

First Cocktail Bar Barcelona (Carrer Rauriс, 9)

The feature here is that all the walls are covered with small stickers with wishes, thoughts, greetings and confessions of the bar’s visitors. Here you can leave a message for a stranger and take a random note for yourself – this creates a unique interior, we bet you have never seen anything like this before.

Make sure to try amazing cocktails (around 6 euros each), and mind that “La la land” cocktail is almost classics here.

Eclipse Bar (Plaça de la Rosa dels Vents, 1)

What makes this bar stand out? The view that is better than in any other bar in the city. Located on the 26th floor of the W hotel on Barcelona’s coast, this unique bar gives you views of the Mediterranean, marina, and downtown Barcelona.

Be ready that with the attentiveness of the service and cozy interior the prices will be double the normal for Barcelona.

Manchester Bar (Carrer de Milans, 5)

Named after the northern English city, this bar encompasses imagery and music originating from the area. Be ready to see pictures of local artists and old buildings or views on the walls and hear the music of such groups as Joy Division, Oasis, and The Smiths.

A wide variety of reasonably priced drinks is available including shots named after songs.

IceBarcelona (Ramón Trías Fargas, 2)

Zip up!

This location claims to be the first ice bar on a beach and consists of an ice lounge (it always maintains a temperature of -5C) designed with elaborate ice sculptures and a terrace, perfect for a cocktail in front of the Mediterranean Sea. Lighting is specifically synchronized to the scene, with cool hues of purple, blue and green that mimic those of the Northern Lights.

The entrance costs €17,50 (for adults) and includes a jacket (to make a visitor feel comfortable in the arctic climate), gloves and a drink, served in a glass made of ice, of course! Purchasing your tickets in advance on their website you get a special discount.

In case you are a real bar crawler, there are some more options: Gatsby Barcelona, Can Paixano and Polaroid.

We wish you a great stay in the Catalonian capital and encourage you to share your experiences in comments below.
